After doing the series of instragram photos for Conakry, I realised that I could do the same for London as I took quite a few photos with my phone. Some of these photos have featured on the Photo of the Week series while others in posts as part of collages. So you might have seen … Continue reading »

Photo of the Week: Set fire to the rain and tell it to go away!!
It has been a miserable two weeks in London as it keeps raining and doesn’t stop. This reminds me of why I never liked living in the city! With weather like this it become depressing! Today the weather is better, but the forecast is for more rain and clouds. The photo below is next to … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: Run to the water and sing in it!
There is something about big cities that attracts the, well for lack of a better word, crazies! Every now and then in London you come across certain ‘personages’ which makes you think ‘compared to that, I’m perfectly normal!’. Raquel and I once stumbled upon a girl completely dressed in green (every item of clothing was … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: Sunshine is all they need!
“When the sun touches the ground of London, thou art legally obliged to sit on any patch of grass!” Well, I’m sure there must be a hidden law along these lines is hidden somewhere in the English Legislature! If it’s not then there’s an unwritten law about living in London that requires you to spend … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: Skyscraping out of the wharfs
Yesterday Raquel and I decided to deviate a little from our normal weekend plans of walking by the river or heading into central London. Instead we decided to for a movie at the cinema and instead of going to the crowded O2 Arena, we decided to go to Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf reminds me of … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: The rise of the Shard…
I’ve said several times on this blog that I find London quite dynamic as it’s cityscape keep changing. One of the big changes to its cityscape is the The Shard at London Bridge. Raquel’s apartment has a great view of it. I know not too many people like it, but I’m a fan! So, here’s … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: Just another exhibit on the wall!
Yesterday I decided to visit the British Museum, to visit a very interesting exhibition on the Muslim Hajj pilgrimage, however as it was my first time at the museum I decided have a quick look around. It was in the Africa part of the museum that I found this guy simply mesmerized with a wall showing … Continue reading »
The Delights of Purgatory in London: Circuses, Flamenco, Rock, Opera’s and some much more
I am still in London, even though in December I was told that I would be in Brazil (or the Emirates or Portugal). This unpredictability can very grating especially if you are trying to plan the next couple of months which include a wedding. However, London, in this sense is a great halfway house to … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: Filling in the Gaps!
One of the things I love about London is it’s urban landscape. The old blends in perfectly with the new; Spaces are filled in creatively; and sometimes the ugly can be made interesting. The photo below is a great example of using advertising to fill a gap. It looks brilliant and fills in a piece … Continue reading »
Photo of the Week: London Beckoned with Snow and Cold
A couple of days ago, my brother and I went out for a walk with our cameras. It wasn’t the best day to do this as London (as like most of Europe) is currently going through a bit of a cold wave, however the dusky evening made for excellent photo taking. This one is of … Continue reading »
The snow that brings London to a standstill
For anyone from Africa, snow usually is some mystical thing we only ever see in movies and Alaskan wildlife documentaries and not something we ever think we will experience. That is until we move from South Africa to London. Our winters are spent excitingly looking at BBC Weather to catch a wiff of possible snow. Then … Continue reading »
Just another month in London
Since coming back from Norway, I’ve been in London with Raquel enjoying the time off and awaiting news of when I’m to go to Brazil, or where ever the company training I will be doing is suppose to be held. I can’t really complain as it means I get to spend more time than I … Continue reading »
The time an old lady told me to “F*ck off” from her country
I’m not sure if you have seen it, but there has been a video (click hereto see) circulating on the internet of a woman verbally abusing passengers on a tram in London. The jist of it was the woman complaining that everyone on the tram weren’t English. It was an attack on London’s multiculturalism.
A very affectionate mugging: Never assume muggers in London aren´t nice people
*Some more retrospective blogging. Sorry. Though I think this one is definitely worth sharing.* London was the first city I ever lived in. I was born and raised in a town in South Africa and was very much a small town boy when I moved to London. I was an aspiring mugger or thief´s wet … Continue reading »
London has secrets too… Part 2
Continued from London has secrets too… Part 1 In the previous post in this series I briefly spoke about my Secret Cinema experience but as the current event was in progress I didn´t want to be a spoiler and let the cat out of the bag with regards to the movie that the organization was … Continue reading »
When the sun shines in London, Londoners show the world their legs…
Anyone who has lived in London for amount of time will know the city is famous for its unpredictable weather. I say unpredictable. It’s actually quite predictable. It’s always dreary and cloudy. However, when the sun comes out from its long hiatuses, the city transforms itself into a tremendous city. People are friendlier, the city … Continue reading »
You might laugh or You might frown, Walking around London Town
I’ve been in London now for almost three weeks now and I have to say I am really enjoying being back in this city. It’s a city where old and new lay together like old bed fellows, everything seems to fit perfectly with each other. I always thought it was a great city, just not … Continue reading »
London beckoned reunions of New Years past…
New Year = Champagne + Party + Friends The equation above meant I refused to stay in Libya to spend New Years Eve. I managed to get New Years Day off from work (It was merely another working day for us). I flew to London on Thursday night in what turned out to be quite … Continue reading »
Sweet Home Anywhere?
I had just finished posting about my weekend trip back to South Africa to watch the world cup I read this post about what home is to the nomad. For me this was a really thought-provoking post as when I read it, I had to really think about the meaning of home. What or Where is … Continue reading »
I want to be in Libya for the weather, London for the company!
“From dust you came and to dust you will return” This must have been written with Libya in mind! I’m back in T-Town (that’s Tripoli for you unhip lot!) after spending a very nice weekend in London. This is my third re-entry into Libya and I’ve noticed that these becoming easier with time. I’m not … Continue reading »
