A Conjunction of Words Simulating the Way in Which Tonito Has an Existential Crisis in the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya

**Beware! This post  was written in a moment where various emotions collided and contains moments of insanity and anyone of a nervous disposition or low tolerance to a South African/ Portuguese Hobbit’s random ramblings about nonsense should ignore this post**

“I was following the pack
All swallowed in their coats
With scarves of red tied around their throats
To keep their little heads
From falling in the snow
And I turned around and there you go
And, Michael, you would fall
And turn the white snow red as strawberries
In the summertime”

White Winter Hymnal – Fleet Foxes

The lyrics of this song makes no sense to me. Who is Michael? Pack of what? But that’s beyond the point I want to make. The lyrics make no sense, however the utter beauty of the melodies and harmonies in this song is undeniable. Not to mention the awesome video that accompanies this song on channels like MTV. The song reminds of Libya… Sometimes makes no sense, yet can be so beautiful at times.

The Soccer World Cup starts in roughly a week. In my home country. In South Africa. I won’t be there. I’ll be here in Libya cursing Murphy and he’s stupid nonsensical law! My family and friends will be enjoying the amazing atmosphere forgetting their nomadic son, brother, cousin, friend and his friend Murphy who screws up everything for everyone!

I like K’naan’s song Waving Flag; All the versions, the original, the Coca Cola’s WC anthem and the Haiti version. I like how exposes the truth behind Africa (verses below).

“So many wars, settlin’ scores,
bringing us promises, leaving us poor,
I heard them say, love is the way
love is the answer, that’s what they say
But look how they treat us, make us believers
we fight their battles, then they deceive us
try to control us, they couldn’t hold us
’cause we just move forward like Buffalo soldiers”

K’naan – Waving Flag

I hate racists. I hate the Israeli government and the IDF. I hate white South Africans who still pine for the days of apartheid. I hate white South Africans who continue to complain even though they are treated more like a majority than a minority in a country where they only consist of nine percent of the population. I hate my office chair, the wheel keeps falling off.

I like the new layout of my room. I moved things around. I hate when my bed directly faces the door. I feel exposed (in a none perverse way). This way I face a window. I hate my leopard print duvet. It was there when I arrived. I hate saying the word duvet. Where did the ‘t’ go?

I want to watch Lord of the Rings again. And again. I haven’t watched the movies in years now. It’s about time. I want to watch it while smoking a shisha and wearing slippers. Haven’t worn slippers in a long time too. I like wearing slippers sometimes.

I want to swing cactus around when I get frustrated at work. It looks fun. I wouldn’t mind a golf buggy to travel round the office with. Hitting people with the swinging cactus from a golf buggy is what I want to do.

Candy Floss. I want some candy floss. I miss my childhood. I miss playing in the garden. I miss getting yelled at for going into the house with dirty feet.

I want to travel again. Indefinitely. Everywhere.

I apologise for the senseless rambling. My mind has given up on rational thought for the week. Normal service will resume on Saturday.
