You say you want a (Green) Revolution…

In South Africa today would be Spring Day, the first official day of Spring. This usually meant going to school in our normal clothes (and not our dreary school uniforms).

In Libya, 1 September is National Day. This day commemorates the overthrow in 1969 of King Idris I, which lead to the establishment of a republic. This year is the 41st celebration of this day. Everywhere in Libya you will see posters of he-who-must-not-be-named with writing commemorating this day.

For me. It was a very welcome public holiday. No work. Just shisha, food and pool. Added bonus? I go to work tomorrow and it’s the weekend! Yes, practically a one day week!
