Memories that last forever with Videoart!

I realise I have been absent from the blog for a while but I’ve had to put the blog on the back burner for some time while I concentrate on work which has pretty much taken over most of my free time during the week. I’m hoping to start posting regularly towards the end of the year when we leave for our long awaited holiday. This post doesn’t mark a change from the current work dominated phase of the year I’m in, however I did want to share something quite special to us: Last week we received our wedding video which has been in the making for a year.

Why is this special for us? Well because Raquel and I initially had not even considered a wedding video. When we were looking photographers we were very adamant we wanted something different. We didn’t wanted staged photos of us posing and pretending to be happy. We wanted photos that captured our wedding in its truest and rawest form possible and for that a photographer needs to disappear and work behind the scenes to catch moments when people feel comfortable and unaware of the camera. Fabio and Maria from Fabio Azanha – Fotografia Creativa managed to achieve exactly what we wanted as you can see in this post.

For the wedding video we wanted the same result, but were convinced that we would not find someone that would achieve what we wanted.  Previous wedding videos  I’ve seen tend to be long and well, simply just document the day in chronological order. We didn’t want this. We wanted something that would remind us of the day without being long.

We had practically given up on the video having seen what Portugal had to offer in the way of videographers when I asked Fabio, our photographer, whether he knew anyone. Fabio in his very understated way just said “Have a look at Carlos from Video Art. You might like him”. Little did we know he just introduced us to our wedding videographer.

Raquel and I checked out his site and one of his highlights videos and we were instantly hooked. We immediately asked for a quote and agreed to hire him for our wedding. I arranged to meet Carlos during one of our whirlwind Lisbon wedding planning trips and his enthusiasm during that meeting confirmed that we were on the right track.

We knew we would like whatever he came up with but never did we expect him to surpass our expectations. He did exactly that. He created a highlights reel that we felt perfectly captured what our wedding meant to us!  Hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

Thanks to Carlos for the awesome work and creating an awesome throw back to our wedding day.

If you are planning your wedding in Portugal, we highly recommend him! Check out more of his work at his website below:
